Introduction

Hi! My name is Amber Mann. I have been a firefighter for the past four years. Over this time, I have learn numerous things that has helped me help other females navigate the firefighting world. Coming into this predominantly male world was challenging to say the least. I was a few weeks shy of my 16th birthday and was suddenly surrounded by older men. There was not many other females when I first joined to show me how to navigate this new world.

This blog will be my way of sharing my experiences and any useful tips I have in regards to female firefighting. There are not many female firefighters in this world, but it is a close knit group. I was taken under the guidance of a fellow female firefighter when I first joined and have since been able to take other new female firefighters under my wings to help.

I will be talking about different things that most female firefighters have to deal with in training, calls, and just in general firefighting every day life. My goal is to make it easier for other female firefighters and give them the opportunity to talk to me about their goals and experiences. With this being such a small club already, I would like to make more connections and friends. This blog will be one way I can do that, so please do not hesitate to reach out and maybe even share some of your own stories!
